Profile Rules allow you to create custom cleaning configurations that determine when your browser data is cleaned, what types of data are removed, and where these rules apply (specific domains or all sites).

Creating a New Profile

  1. 1Navigate to the Profiles section in your dashboard
  2. 2Click the "Add New Profile" button at the top of the page
  3. 3A new profile accordion will appear - click to expand it
  4. 4Configure your profile settings using the sections below

Profile Name

Give your profile a descriptive name that helps you identify its purpose.

  • โ€ข Privacy Mode: For aggressive cleaning of tracking data
  • โ€ข Social Media Clean: For cleaning specific social media cookies

When to Clean

Choose the trigger(s) that will automatically activate your cleaning profile. You can select multiple options.

On Browser Exit

Cleans data automatically when you close your browser completely.

Best for: General privacy - ensures no browsing data persists between sessions

On Schedule

Cleans data at regular intervals based on your selected schedule.

Schedule Options:
  • โ€ข After 30 minutes: For frequent, light cleaning
  • โ€ข After 1 hour: Balanced cleaning interval
  • โ€ข After 1 day: For daily maintenance
Best for: Regular maintenance - keeps your browser clean throughout the day

After Inactivity

Cleans data after you've been inactive for a specified period.

Same time options as Schedule: 30 minutes, 1 hour, or 1 day
Best for: Security on shared computers - cleans data when you step away

On Profile Switch

Cleans data when switching to another profile.

Best for: Context switching between work/personal

On Tab Close

Cleans data immediately when closing a tab.

Best for: Immediate cleanup for sensitive sites

Important: Most data types (except Cookies and History) affect the entire browser regardless of domain-based rules.

Domain-Based Rules

Keep Rule

Preserve data from specific domains (whitelist).

Example: Keep gmail.com - Gmail data is preserved

Clean Rule

Target specific domains for cleaning only.

Example: Clean facebook.com - Only Facebook is cleaned

How It Works

  • โœ“No rules: Profile applies to ALL websites
  • โœ“With Clean rules: Profile applies ONLY to specified domains
  • โœ“With Keep rules: All sites cleaned EXCEPT specified domains

Saving & Activating Your Profile

Saving Changes

  1. 1.Click the "Save Profile" button (green) at the bottom
  2. 2.You'll see a success message confirming the save
  3. 3.For existing profiles, click "Update Profile"
Important: If you update an existing profile, reactivate it in your browser extension for changes to take effect.

Activating in Browser Extension

  1. 1.Open the Broom Cookie Cleaner extension in your browser
  2. 2.Navigate to the Profiles section
  3. 3.Click on your saved profile to activate it
  4. 4.An "Active" badge will appear when running

Success! Your Profile is Active

Your browser will now automatically clean data according to your profile rules. You can have multiple profiles but only one can be active at a time.
